As we already know, in the patient needing causticum there is a feeling of one who takes care of entire group or family. He considers himself to be the strongest member of a group or family and regards a threat to any one member of that group as a threat to himself.

While what we see in kali carb is the main theme of vital fear when person lacks the support of his family and group.

For e.g. in the rubric carried desire to be- you will not find Causticum but only kali carb. Or even in rubric rocking amel- there is no causticum but there is kali carb.

What I want to say here is that, even if in compensated state, superficially kali carb may represent to show support or responsibility towards family. But deeper down there is always a fear of losing that support.

Hence rubric – fear alone being darkness in – there is only kali carb.

The support/responsibility towards his/her family most often comes up due to the feeling of anxiety.

Now this feeling of anxiety is different for kali carb and causticum.

While causticum would feel anxious for if he doesn’t forestall the threat, it will affect the whole group and he will be weakened. His strength lies in the strength of the group.

While kali carb would feel anxious because her entire life revolves around the family or her group. She feels anxious because if something happens to some member of her family, who in turn will look after her. She feels forsaken when she doesn’t get the support she needs.

Now, in order to reach from the position of calcarea to sulphur, one has to concentrate on growing, on making an effort to achieve one’s ambition, on movement undertaking new things rather than sticking to old and stable. Which represents Lycopodium.

Having said that, I would like to add, even though we know about this triad and its pattern, we shouldn’t make ourselves prejudiced with it.

Yes, sometimes there can be a coincidence where after sulphur we prescribe a patient calc and after calc we prescribe the same patient lycopodium.

But, that should never be based on this already existing knowledge of trio.

And as per aphorism 7 suggest, TOTALITY OF SYMPTOMS MUST BE THE SOLE INDICATION, THE SOLE GUIDE IN SELECTION OF THE REMEDY.

Which means, the selection of the remedy or a change in prescription should only be based on the symptoms and the state of the patient.

While, the Causticum person is the one who has to take care of the group or family. They regard a threat to any one member of that group as a threat to themselves.

The main word for Carcinosin patient is, “Perfection”. The need for perfection makes them sensitive to reprimands and fastidious in every sphere of life. But unlike mineral remedies, which merely want order in everything that they do, Carcinosin patients often show an interest towards artistic things like music, dancing and painting.

Likewise, the main two words for Causticum person are, “Cautiously anxious”. As they consider themselves to be the strongest member of the group or family, they are always concerned when there is any problem with any member of that group. Calc ars has a feeling: “I may be cheated, let down by the people on whom I depend for protection”

On the other hand, in calc mur the feeling is: the person on whom I depended for protection has betrayed me or hurt me and now I not only want to break from the person, but I will assume a completely opposite identity.

Calc ars patient cannot leave that person in spite of being cheated. Because there is a kind of weakness with himself which makes him to be dependent.

While on the other side, calc mur once betrayed, will completely break the relation with that person in spite of being too dependent on him in the past.

Now let’s see some rubric differentiation.
